WE WORK HOLISTICALLY TO ACHIEVE BALANCED VINEYARDS,

HEALTHY AND SELF-SUSTAINABLE VINEYARDS THAT
ARE IN TOUCH WITH THEIR ECOSYSTEM

OUR

Commitment
COMMITMENT

We work our vineyards in a way that respects the planet, giving back to the earth all the life that it has been giving us over the course of more than a century so that the generations to come will be able to enjoy it just as we do.

360° SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is a key value for us at Neyen de Apalta. We have made a comprehensive commitment to the planet through conserving our vineyards and caring for people.

In doing so, we are contributing towards ensuring that future generations will be able to continue enjoying it. We have therefore set ourselves targets in three areas, which we monitor year by year in order to keep on moving on to the next level.

ENVIRONMENTAL CARE

We are a winery that is organic and biodynamic; we strongly believe that this is the right way to work our vineyards, conserve our environment and achieve a balanced ecosystem. This approach has created a virtuous cycle. By regenerating our soils, we give back to the earth the life that it has been providing to us over more than a century.

In addition to capturing enormous volumes of greenhouse gases through our agricultural practices, we have a plan for conserving our natural resources through:

Using water efficiently.
Decreasing CO2 emissions.
Implementing a 3R policy.
Incorporating green energy sources.

SOCIAL WELLBEING

It is thanks to each and every one of our team members that our wines are able to reach the dinner tables of our consumers. They are committed to our philosophy, forming a human team that we respect, care for and empower.

We have the backing of our “Fair for Life” certification, through which we guarantee our commitment to the people in our winery and those in the neighbouring community.

FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

Our wines are the means for ensuring that the winery can endure over time, remaining financially viable, and for achieving our commitment to conserving our place for future generations.

ORGANIC AND BIODYNAMIC
AGRICULTURE

Neyen de Apalta is a regenerative organic and biodynamic winery. For more than a decade we have been implementing on our property a series of practices that have resulted in us having living soils that nourish our vines, allowing them to take root in the place and express all their personality.
We regard our vineyards as one sole ecological entity that is based on the cultivation of grapes and the soils that surround them. We therefore reuse the waste produced on our estate, generating a lower environmental impact.
To promote and conserve a balanced, self-regulating ecosystem, we have incorporated the following practices:
  • Making our own compost in order to give the maximum strength to our soils.
  • Conserving the nature reserve that surrounds the property.
  • Incorporating sheep to help us keep the grass cut in spring, aerate and minimize soil compaction in winter and provide natural fertilizer.
  • Conserving biological corridors that also boost biodiversity.
  • Pruning and managing the canopy, maintaining the right level of foliage to ensure correct ventilation and avoid diseases.
  • Conserving natural pastureland. The soils in organic and biodynamic vineyards are living entities that generate life between the vines, boosting their structure and microfauna and strengthening the sense of place.
  • Following the biodynamic calendar, which takes account of the lunar cycles and the position of the sun and the planets. It divides agricultural tasks into four different types of day: Fruit days are dedicated to harvesting; leaf days to irrigation; root days to pruning and flower days are when the vines rest.
  • Applying biodynamic preparations. We make and apply them with the aim of boosting the natural fertility of the soil. They work to regenerate the soils and ensure the soils are really alive. We add six of them to the compost and two directly to the soil.
